Character & Canon: Laguna Loire, Final Fantasy 8 AU
District: Whitewood
Personality:
Even though this Laguna comes from a doomed timeline (since, in canon, a huge theme is that the past can't get changed - thus, every other timeline is doomed to fade, and this just happened to be one of the false ones) he is a lot like his older, canon self still...
He's still got his cheer, and his moron-ness. A lot of people question how he could become a top SeeD, but then they see Zell, and... well. He tends to poke around everywhere, and is never found researching or things like that. Well, that's a lie - he tended to train a lot, and still does, keeping his odd weapon trained. (Think a Gunblade, but... less blade, more gun.)
He has his caring about family as well - though his relationship to Squall actually steers him quite a bit in this universe. He only found out about it before Time Compression - Squall knew time was going to collapse, so he took him off to fix up his loose ends. Laguna still doesn't know what to do - when he found out, he kind of froze up, and he still doesn't know what to do - thus, he's still thinking it over. He was also told about alternate timelines during this period, so he kind of knows that other worlds exist, in some form.
Of course, he'll still protect Ellone - Sis, or daughter, he'll do anything for her. The only other person this close to him is Rinoa, since - well, Laguna did go though the same path as Squall. He's also still got his terrible sense of direction, though at least, he lets others guide him. He's also still got his nerves, even if he uses his smile to mask it - yes, he tries to mask his leg cramps with it.
However, Laguna still has many leftover things from Squall, since he went though his story. His smile? It's not always true. He learned, while he was feeling lonely, if he just smiled... well, people wouldn't worry about him. He tends to ignore his own problems, pushing himself on helping others. He doesn't remember his past, it scares him that he's forgotten. But why would he want others to help him? They'll just end up leaving him - might as well help them instead, so they forget they saw him with a frown.
He's also, right now, dealing with the fact his timeline is fading. Everybody he knew is gone, or soon to be. He can't just accept that, though - he just got his happiness. He won't let her fade... even if his memories are fading as well. Being not in the collapsing timeline will halt this fading of memories.
Questions/Comments/Concerns: Yes, I dropped a Laguna to get another Laguna. If it wasn't clear, his AU is one where he was the main character of FF8, him and Squall switching places - yes, this somehow makes him Squall's kid.
